Welcome to this website. For over 10 years
I’ve been an audiophile. Because my ears are quite keen
on sound, there is a huge selection of speakers to choose
from. My goal was to find the best speakers that sounded as
lifelike as possible. This was no easy task for talented
speaker designers to create. In order to find the best
speakers that produced the most lifelike sounds, I have
spent years testing them, while checking for the best deals
in order to get the best “bang for your
buck”.
Whether the speakers you’re looking for
are from Harmon Kardon, Bose, or Bang & Olufson,
everyone has a preference. I’m sure you’ll be able to find
the best speakers for your ears. After listening for a few
years, here’s my take on the few big companies that
produce some of the best
speakers.
Harmon Kardon – Nowadays some of the big
car companies such as Mercedes Benz or BMW tend to use
Harmon Kardon speakers for most of their models. After
sitting in a few of their cars and listening to music I can
safely say that these are amazing sounding. Most of the cars
from BMW or Mercedes Benz have an astonishing 14 speakers
inside and this only makes things sound better. The sounds
that come out are crisp yet not too high pitched, with a
nice smooth bass. With 360 degrees of surround sound, in
each seat, going from just normal stereo to a dynamic 5.1
surround sound. Harmon Kardon creates top of the line
speakers and places each speaker and tweeter in the perfect
spots of the vehicle to give you the best
experience.
Bose – One of the most advertised and
heard of speaker name on the planet, I wouldn’t say Bose
creates the best speakers. Many people have mixed feelings
about this company. They had a great old name before, and
nowadays are starting to move towards a sort of hyped-up
ipod class speaker making company. Having said this, I’ve
owned a car with a Bose stereo sound system, and the music
experience is phenomenal. During times that I would prefer a
relaxing ride home I tend to play music from Beethoven. The
speakers are able to put out every sound just perfectly; the
bass is never too loud and is quite smooth sounding. Also,
the sounds are extremely crisp and really make it feel like
you are sitting inside a concert hall listening to
Beethoven’s symphonies. I’ve also purchased an ipod system
from Bose and I was not too pleased. The price was extremely
expensive and yet the quality was only
average.
Bang & Olufson – A huge question
people wonder – is this company overrated? This
company
uses stylish designs and
produces some of the highest quality speakers I’ve ever
heard music from. After hearing music from a pair of
speakers from this company (specifically the Beolab 4
Speakers), the sounds they produced were clean, with crisp
highs and mids and an extremely deep bass that wasn’t too
loud. They also had an amazing separation and sounded quite
powerful despite their sizes. Maybe this company makes the
best speakers? Who knows? It’s all preference in the end,
really.
Klipsch – This
company produces a huge amount of sound related products.
They also create some of the best in wall speakers in the
business. If you’re looking for solid speakers that are
extremely high quality, beautifully designed and have
unparalleled performance within certain speaker
applications, then Klipsch is a very good choice. Another
great thing is that while this company does sell speakers
that can get quite expensive, they also manufacture
speakers for those who are budget-minded. Although they
specialize in trying to create the best speakers
possible, they also make headphones, and subwoofers. When
buying a pair of speakers from Klipsch, you won’t be
disappointed.
B&W – B&W
stands for Bowers & Wilkins, which is a British
loudspeaker company. They are based in Worthing, West
Sussex, England and they produce quality hi-fi and home
entertainment speakers. In 2005, they received the Queen’s
Award for creating tube-loaded drivers in their 800 series
speakers. B&W also received the European Home Theatre
Subwoofer of the year award for 2005-2006.
Although B&W don’t try to focus on building the best
speakers, they have a diverse line of products and have won
several awards for their innovative abilities to create
products that are well known for balanced, clear and natural
sound quality. Their recent release in 2010 of the P5 Mobile
Hi-Fi headphones is a prime example of
this.
Polk – A company
known for making some of the best car speakers, this
company also makes a huge range of other audio products
like FM tuners, home theatre speakers and amplifiers. The
headquarters for this company is in Baltimore, Maryland.
In 2006, they were acquired by Directed Electronics;
however, they still make speakers of the same
caliber and quality. If you’re searching for the best
speakers for your car to make driving a much more fun
experience, try getting a pair of Polk speakers. Polk car
speakers provide the same performance and listening
experience that only more expensive brands can provide
within a certain price range. Their speakers also tend to
outlast speakers from other brands. Just make sure you
stay within a power range that the speakers can
handle.
Dynaudio –
Dynaudio prides itself on striving to create the best
experience with home theatre systems and car hi-fi. I
personally wouldn’t say they make the best speakers in
the business, but damn close. They also keep in mind that
many people are looking to build home entertainment
systems while on a budget. This is where Dynaudio shines.
They even won the Stereophile Budget Component of Year
Award in 2010 with their Dynaudio Excite X12. They create
high-end speakers while not having high-prices and this
is a huge factor when you’re looking to buy the best
speakers around for what you can afford. Currently their
Excite X12 is the most affordable loudspeaker in its
class while having no drawbacks in comparison with its
competition. This company is setting many standards in
today’s audio market.
Find out
how to position your speakers the best way so that you
can get the best listening experience from your speaker
setup! Learn how to enhance your listening experience for
everything that you listen, watch or
play!
Buying a set of
really expensive speakers doesn't exactly mean that
you'll have a perfect listening experience right out of
the box. Even if you think you've got the best speakers
in the business, there are chances that you could set
things up incorrectly and end up with a listening
experience that wasn't as good as you thought it would
be. So here are some ways that you can instantly enhance
the way you listen to your speakers and allow yourself to
enjoy your speakers to their fullest!
1. Some of the best speakers positions start out with you
creating a triangle between your two speakers and your chair.
Make sure that you create a triangle shape with the two
speakers and your chair. With your chair at one point, and a
speaker at each other point. You should end up with your
speakers have a distance from each other that is equal to their
distance from your chair. You should get a triangle where all
three sides are the same length. Then, do a double-check to
find out if the left and right speakers are properly plugged in
to the amplifier so that the left signal is going to the left
speaker and the same thing for the right side. Another thing
you want to make sure is that your speakers are at the same
level as your ears. That means the sounds that are coming from
your speakers are at listening level. This ensures that you get
the best listening experience from your speakers.
2. If you can, another thing you'll want to make sure of is
that your speakers are placed on a surface that will give the
smoothest bass performance. To get the best listening
experience with your speakers, try to place your speakers near
three surfaces (such as in a corner), this will give maximum
bass boost from your speakers. However, the worst thing you can
do is to place the speaker in a position where it has the same
distance between the wall behind it, the side and the floor.
This causes the bass to sound lumpy and have many dips.
3. If your speakers have so resonant issues, and they are
starting to vibrate whatever surface they are sitting on, you
can place shock absorbent materials underneath them to decrease
resonance. Try using the blue thumb tack and placing them on
each leg of your speakers (if they have legs) or just any area
where the bottom of your speaker makes contact with the surface
that it is vibrating.
Now that you've got your speakers positioned correctly
around your room so that they provide the best acoustics, sit
down and enjoy your speaker setup. Try to play some sound
tracks that have all sorts of low and high frequencies and make
sure that you can hear each sound clearly. If you can't, try
moving the speakers around a little to get the best position
for your ears. Make sure you use your chair as a guide for
where your speakers should be. Good luck!
So there you have
it, a brief explanation of some companies that produce
some of the best speakers in today’s audio world. Go with
one of these brands and you won’t be disappointed. Of
course there are small differences and most times it
takes a very keen ear to pick them out, but for the most
part, you’ll achieve an extremely solid learning
experience if you go with one of the
above.
